MuccArt was created from a simple yet powerful gesture: transforming an artwork into a real possibility of life. Ninety artists have donated one of their works to support GSI Italia’s program, which in 2022–23 set a concrete and urgent goal: to purchase 300 cows for 300 families in Ethiopia, one of the Horn of Africa’s countries most affected by hunger and chronic malnutrition.

In a context where daily survival depends on access to the most basic food resources, 200 euros are enough to buy a cow—an animal that, in Ethiopia, is far more than an economic asset. A cow means milk to feed children, labour for the fields, the possibility of trade, and autonomy. It represents a real transition from hunger to life.

It was with this awareness that the Franciscan community of Addis Ababa asked GSI Italia for concrete help to save 300 families in extreme need.

The response became MuccArt: a program that unites art and solidarity, inviting Italian artists and collectors to donate an artwork—either one they created or one from their collection.

All donated artworks are offered to the public at the symbolic price of 200 euros, precisely the amount needed to purchase a cow. Each sale immediately generates a concrete action: the purchase of one animal and direct support for one family.

GSI Italia guarantees full transparency: each donor or buyer will receive evidence of the delivery of the cow to the beneficiary family, including documentation and geographic details proving the real impact of their contribution.

MuccArt is more than a fundraising campaign: it is a bridge between distant worlds, an alliance between creativity and social responsibility. It shows how art can become an instrument of life, capable of offering dignity, nourishment, and future to those who lack them today.

Because in Ethiopia, a cow can truly save the life of an entire family — and art can make it possible.
