Kou Gallery is the non-profit exhibition space of the Kou Association.
The prevailing common-sense notion that our contemporary postmodern world continues to assign to art is that of a product with specific formal qualities linked to the idea of beauty, which should primarily elicit a pleasant and comforting reaction in the viewer. Contemporary art seeks a precise integration with social reality and with the environment that surrounds us, inevitably placing it in direct dialogue with its visual context.
It is on these foundations that the Kou Gallery project was born.
Its activity is guided by a clear vision: the artwork is not an object to be seen, but a tool through which one looks — capable of rethinking ideas and human relationships in novel ways.
Over the years, Kou Gallery has established itself as a place of encounter and creative cross-pollination among artists. It is a meaningful space where one can exchange ideas and welcome new perspectives and innovative horizons.
Its primary objective is to increase the dissemination and understanding of Italian and international contemporary art, with particular attention to younger generations and to promoting the work of Italian artists abroad.
Aware of the importance of a direct relationship between artists, cultural professionals, and the public in enhancing the arts, Kou Gallery actively engages in fostering a deeper understanding of the beauty emanating from artworks and from the emotional language of artists.
Kou Gallery chooses to promote only artists endowed with a strong communicative sensibility, who work with original concepts and techniques and can make a difference within today’s and tomorrow’s artistic landscape. Within its interdisciplinary space, the various expressive codes and the personal research each artist pursues in their practice are translated and interconnected.
Creation, beauty, and dialogue are, for Kou Gallery, essential and indispensable factors in a process of renewal that involves all artistic fields and expresses the will to reaffirm the central role of the city of Rome within both the Italian and international art scene.
Kou Gallery is managed by Kou, a non-profit association dedicated to the promotion of the visual arts.
