Davide Dormino (Udine, June 19, 1973). His research is expressed through sculpture and drawing. He seeks new forms by elaborating on the archaic systems of material processing such as marble, bronze, and iron. Dormino entrusts all his artistic research to the monumentality of the execution process: in each of his works, there is a search for meaning through reference to themes essential for Humanity. He engages with dimension, operating at every scale capable of representing the idea and fitting it into the appropriate container. For Dormino, every artistic manifestation becomes fertile ground for engaging with the external environment in a unique and incisive way. Flows, vectors, bridges, small and large works, materials transformed without artifice but adapted to the will to interpret the timeless spirit of the artist.
He has created Public Art works in Italy and abroad, including in 2011 “Breath,” the Monument to Haiti, created one year after the earthquake catastrophe, commissioned by the United Nations. Currently, he is engaged with "Anything to Say?": a traveling sculpture dedicated to courage and freedom of information, which began its journey in Berlin (Alexanderplatz) on May 1, 2015. Subsequently, the work moved to Dresden (Theaterplatz, Ostrale), Geneva (Place des Nations), Paris (Place Georges Pompidou), Strasbourg (Place Kléber), Tours (Gare de Tours), Perugia (Piazza IV Novembre), Belgrade (Dev9t Festival), Ptuj-Slovenia (Art Stay Festival), Rome (P.le Aldo Moro). For this work, he received the 2016 Ethical Prize from the French organization AntiCor.
He participated in the Stone Biennale in Portugal (2003, 2005), the 5th edition of La Escultura en Norte in Spain (2009), the XIV Biennale of Sacred Art (2010), Un’Ita-Italian Artists in New York (2011), Ostrale 012 in Dresden, Germany (2012). He has exhibited at C.I.A.C in Genazzano, Rome (2008), Accademia dello Scompiglio, Lucca (2010), Venaria, Turin (2013), Castello di Rivara (2013). He has held solo exhibitions in Rome, Turin, Milan. He works in Rome and teaches Sculpture and Drawing at R.U.F.A. Rome University of Fine Arts.
