Andrea Frosolini was born in Rome on September 16, 1993, where he currently lives and studies.

He began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in 2012, choosing the “Decoration” program.

In 2014 he took part in his first group exhibition in Rome. Throughout 2014 and 2015, he participated in numerous group exhibitions in the capital, and in the summer of 2015 his first solo shows were presented in Rome, at the Menexa gallery, and in Germany. On September 10, 2015, he began an artist residency at the Rivara Castle under gallerist Franz Paludetto, and inaugurated the group show “Nuovi Orizzonti” on September 20.

Frosolini’s artistic research is mainly based on the representation of pain in a semi-abstract form. The remarkable series “Per Aspera Ad Astra” confronts us with paintings that explore both pain—through the depiction of bruises, in an attempt at sublimation expressed through an astral resemblance to nebulae—and a pictorial inquiry into the boundary between figurative and abstract. The representation of pain through these bruise/galaxies becomes an exaltation of it, alluding to the paradox between harm and beauty, bruise and galaxy. Pain leads to awareness, allowing one to reach the cosmos.
