Mattia Cleri Polidori was born in Rome in 1987. He graduated in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 2015. In 2016, he obtained a Master in Painting at the Wimbledon College of Arts in London.
In January 2018, he began working at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in the painting department. He is one of the six founders of the contemporary art laboratory “Rione Placido,” inaugurated in January 2023.
His research is based on golden patterns that emerge in morphogenesis, in the way matter organizes itself autonomously in space. Through the isolation and presentation of natural objects, he explores this behavior of matter using a wide range of methodologies, from oil painting and mold-making in rubber, resin, and cement, to time-based media.
Among his recent projects are exhibitions at Cartavetra in Florence in 2024 and 2021, and at Blocco 13 in Rome in 2023, his collaboration with the DOM company in the performance “CAMPFIRE – where the fire begins” at the India Theatre in Rome, and artist residencies in Estonia in 2020 and 2022.
