Vincenzo Scolamiero is a Painting professor at the Department of Visual Arts of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, where he lives and works.
His works are held in important public and private collections. His first solo exhibition took place in 1987 at the historic Al Ferro di Cavallo gallery in Rome,
and in 1992 Maurizio Calvesi presented a solo exhibition of his at the Galleria de’serpenti in Rome.
In 1996 he exhibited at the Galleria Edieuropa Qui arte contemporanea, presented by Lorenza Trucchi. Subsequently, he has exhibited in major national and international venues, including Rome (several private galleries, Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna, Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Chiostro del Bramante, GAM, MACRO), Milan, Venice, Bologna, Turin, Rimini, Treviso, New York, Seoul, Busan, Beijing, Fenghuang. He participated in the Rome Quadriennale (1996), the Venice Biennale (2011), and won the 65th Edition of the Premio Michetti (2014).
In 2010, together with poet Milo De Angelis, he created 12 unique artist books: Un finale d’assedio, for Pandolfini editions in Rome. In 2017, he collaborated with composer Silvia Colasanti, creating video scenographies and images for the frontispiece and booklet of the Requiem Stringeranno nei pugni una cometa for the Spoleto Festival, and also in 2017 he produced, “a quattro mani” with the composer, seven unique score-books for her string quartet Ogni cosa ad ogni cosa ha detto addio, for Edizioni Eos-Libri d’Artista by Piero Varroni in Rome.
Noteworthy are the solo exhibition in 2019 at the Museo Carlo Bilotti in Rome titled La declinante ombra, curated by Gabriele Simongini (Cat. De Luca), and the solo exhibition in 2021/22 Del silenzio e della trasparenza at Palazzo Pubblico in Siena – Magazzini del Sale and at the Fondazione Accademia Musicale Chigiana, curated by the Municipality of Siena, Department of Culture, and inner room Siena (Cat. De Luca).
In May 2022, he participated in one of the Martedì Critici conversations by Alberto Dambruoso with Roberto Gramiccia and Gabriele Simongini.
In 2023, his solo exhibition Di terra, acqua e vento opened at the Museo Nazionale Etrusco Rocca di Albornoz in Viterbo, curated by Francesca Bottari and Stefano Petrocchi.
He collaborates with art critic Roberto Gramiccia since the curation of the exhibitions L’osteria dei pittori in Rome at Galleria La Nuova Pesa and later at Palazzo Rospigliosi in Zagarolo, followed by La crociata dei bambini at Villa Lazzaroni in Rome, during 2022-’23.
