Elvio Chiricozzi was born in Viterbo on January 26, 1965. In Rome he began his exhibition activity in 1989 at the Rondinini Gallery with the exhibition “Arte a Roma 1980 – 1989 nuove situazioni ed emergenze”. Also in Rome in 1994 he presented his first solo exhibition titled “potrebbe essere sera” curated by Ludovico Pratesi at the Museum Laboratory of the University La Sapienza directed by Maurizio Calvesi. In 1996 he was invited to participate in the XII Rome Quadriennale. From 1998 onward, a series of exhibitions, permanent works, and collaborations in architecture followed.
In 1998 at the Galleria Il Polittico he presented the solo exhibition titled “né cielo né terra” curated by Duccio Trombadori and A. Romani Brizzi. In 1999 he was invited to the exhibition “La pittura ritrovata 1978-1998” at the Museum of the Risorgimento in Rome. From the same year are also the exhibitions “Fuori Uso” in Pescara and “Giganti” at the Imperial Forums in Rome.
In 2000 at the Pino Casagrande Gallery in Rome he exhibited works created together with Roberto Pietrosanti under the title “Migranti”, and inaugurated the solo exhibitions “mi apparisti vestita” at the A.A.M. Gallery in collaboration with the Mara Coccia Association curated by Francesco Moschini, and “occhi con le piume” curated by Alessandra Sette and Paola Magni at Teatro India.
In 2001 he presented the exhibition “the hands you deserve” curated by Cinzia Fratucello for Andipa Gallery – London and was invited by Edward Lucie Smith to participate in the exhibition “Between earth and Heaven, new classical movements in the art of today” at the Museum of Modern Art in Ostend, Belgium.
In 2002 one of his works became part of the permanent collection of the United Nations in Geneva, while at the same time he exhibited at the Pino Casagrande Gallery the exhibition “come tutto nella sera” curated by Angelo Capasso.
In 2003 he took part in the exhibition “Futuro italiano” at the European Parliament – Brussels. In 2004, in collaboration with the C.D.P. and with consultancy by Francesco Moschini, he created a permanent work for the Axena Hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece. This was followed by: “Arte italiana per il XX secolo” at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and participation in 2006 – with the artistic coordination of the A.A.M. Gallery – in the 10th Venice Architecture Biennale.
