I am a visual artist based in Tampere, Finland. My artistic work consists of paintings and drawings. I also work with public art, sculptures and installations produced by our artist duo ROP.

My latest painting series is titled The Ballad of the Salty Sea. It was created entirely at night, in the safety of darkness. My goal was to reach an emotional state, a place where painting emerges with sincerity and instinct. Darkness and silence are necessary to tune into that kind of frequency. So, I painted at night.

The paintings in the series are a kind of landscapes and particular details of places. To me, they are like small fragments of memories pulled out from the cabinets of my mind. They are beautiful, distant and also sentimental. Working methodically in this way is like an adventure — you never know what awaits you when you enter the studio. The name of the series comes from that, since my adventure idol is Corto Maltese, of course!
